The rector’s speech on the occasion of Independence Day
I have the special honor and pleasure that on my behalf and the management of Haxhi Zeka University, to sincerely wish the Independence Day of the Republic of Kosovo to all students, university staff, as well as all citizens of Peja and the Republic of Kosovo in general.
14 years ago, on February 17, 2008, the Republic of Kosovo sealed its future, concluding a long road full of sacrifices of many generations for freedom and independence. Kosovo’s independence occurred only 9 years after the military intervention of NATO democratic countries that paved the way for addressing the final status of our country’s independence.
Today, on this anniversary of the state of Kosovo, we remember our bitter history, but with humility and pride we also honor our fair struggle for freedom. We as well express respect and praise to all those who made the historic turn for the European future of our state. On this significant day, I wish to honor the work and sacrifice of those who gave so much for Kosovo, as well as united and with one mind to work hard for our country, based primarily on quality education and perspective for our youth.
