UNISUM 2025: International Summer University Brings Global Learning to University “Haxhi Zeka”  

The in-person week of the International Summer University, UNISUM 2025, officially began with a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Armand Krasniqi, Rector of the University “Haxhi Zeka”, Prof. Dr. Edmond Beqiri, Vice Rector for International Cooperation, and MSc Arbërora Haxhija, Director of the Office for International Cooperation. Also present at the opening ceremony were members of the UHZ Steering Council, faculty deans, university academic and administrative staff  highlighting the university’s strong institutional support for international academic collaboration.

Following a successful first week held online, more than 100 students from around the world have now gathered in Peja to participate in a dynamic week of academic courses, cultural exchange, and global networking.

This year’s edition of UNISUM offers 11 interdisciplinary courses, lectured by a distinguished group of international professors, including:Ahm Shamsuzzoha – Finland, Ercan Özen – Türkiye,Jerry Fianyo – France, Jiyan Kılıç – Türkiye, Kesra Nermend – Poland, Laura Platkowska-Prokopczyk – Poland, Małgorzata Nermend – Poland, Viktória Vasary – Hungary, Blake Rayfield – USA, Marina Novak – Croatia, Muammer Ketizmen – Türkiye.

Courses are co-lectured by UHZ professors: Naser Bajraktari, Fisnik Morina, Ibish Mazreku, Driton Sylqa, Elvis Elezaj, Theranda Beqiri, Thelleza Latifi-Sadrija, Ibrahim Krasniqi, Vlora Berisha, Dardane Nallbani, and Mensur Morina.

UNISUM 2025 brings together students from France, the Netherlands, Türkiye, Ireland, the USA, Finland, North Macedonia, Hunaria, Albania, and Kosovo, making the program a vibrant international hub of knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

An annual initiative, UNISUM combines virtual learning with in-person academic experiences, offering a platform for cross-cultural dialogue, academic growth, and professional development. While the first week focused on online engagement, the physical presence week allows students and faculty to connect face-to-face through lectures, workshops, field visits, and cultural events.

h its strong emphasis on international cooperation and experiential learning, UNISUM 2025 continues to strengthen educational ties across borders and reaffirms the University “Haxhi Zeka”’s growing role in the global academic community.
