On the third day of UNIWIN 2026, one day before departing for one of the most prestigious judo competitions, the Grand Slam Paris 2026, the Kosovo national judo team – composed of world and Olympic champions – hosted the participants of the UNIWIN 2026 International Winter University in Peja.
During the visit, participants had the opportunity to closely follow the training preparations for the Grand Slam Paris 2026, seeing in action some of the most successful judokas in the world, such as: Distria Krasniqi, Olympic medalist and world champion; Akil Gjakova, European champion; Laura Fazliu, Olympic medalist and European champion; as well as many other athletes with Balkan, European and world level medals.
The participants were welcomed and guided by the national team coaches: Driton “Toni” Kuka, announced by International Judo Federation as the best coach in the world in 2021, and Majlinda Kelmendi, Olympic and world champion, winner of almost all the most important medals in judo and coach of the Kosovo national team.
The visit was enthusiastically received by students from Hungary, Poland, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet Olympic and world champions, including the number one athlete in the IJF world rankings, Distria Krasniqi.
During the visit, the mutual respect between the national judo team and the "Haxhi Zeka" University, as two important institutions at the national and regional levels.
The participants wished the Kosovo national judo team much success at the Grand Slam Paris 2026 and in future international competitions.
