"HAXHI ZEKA" UNIVERSITY: FROM GROWTH IN NUMBERS TOWARDS SCIENTIFIC EXCELLENCE

"Haxhi Zeka" University is proving that the development of scientific research is no longer an abstract goal, but a sustainable and measurable process that is taking concrete shape from year to year.

The analysis of the development of scientific research work for the period 2023–2025 clearly shows that the university has entered a new phase of academic maturity, where the focus is no longer only on increasing the number of publications, but above all on their quality, international impact and the leadership role of academic staff.

The data of these three years demonstrate a development trajectory that has not been linear, but rather thoughtful and structured. The year 2023 is characterized by a high volume of scientific publications, marking an important phase of accumulation and research activation. The year 2024, although showing a slight numerical decline, actually represents a phase of transition and selection, where attention begins to shift towards quality and penetration into more selective journals. It is precisely this deliberate orientation that creates the basis for the year 2025, which marks the full consolidation of this process, with a return to the volume of publications and a significant increase in scientific quality.

In 2025, "Haxhi Zeka" University" has produced 129 unique scientific papers, indexed in the most important international platforms such as SCOPUS and Web of Science. This result clearly speaks of a serious and sustainable presence of the university in the global scientific research space. What makes this achievement even more significant is the fact that the greatest increase has been recorded precisely in publications indexed in the Web of Science, a direct indicator of the increase in the quality and international competitiveness of scientific research at UHZ.

Another important element that emerges from the analysis is the leading role of the university's academic staff. A significant portion of scientific publications have been led by UHZ lecturers as first authors, which demonstrates scientific independence, conceptual capacity and the ability to initiate and direct research with academic and social relevance. "Haxhi Zeka" University is no longer appearing only as a collaborator in research projects, but as an active actor and carrier of scientific ideas.

The analysis of per capita performance, applied for the first time in a comprehensive and systematic way, brings a new dimension of transparency and fairness to the evaluation of scientific work. It clearly shows that beyond the size of faculties, some academic units have achieved very high levels of research efficiency per lecturer, proving that quality and commitment are decisive factors for academic success. This approach does not aim to create divisions, but to understand reality and provide a sound basis for further development.

For professors and researchers, this analysis is proof that their work is yielding concrete results and gaining international weight. For students, it is a guarantee that they are part of a university that is building knowledge, reputation and real academic perspective. For the public and institutional partners, this is a clear signal that “Haxhi Zeka” University is consolidating itself as a modern, dynamic institution oriented towards the University 4.0 model, where teaching, scientific research and social contribution are organically intertwined.

This sustainable development of scientific research has a direct reflection on the quality of teaching and learning at “Haxhi Zeka” University. A university that produces scientific knowledge, that researches, publishes and debates at an international level, is a university that brings this fresh and critical knowledge to the auditorium. The active involvement of academic staff in scientific research increases the quality of lectures, enriches study programs with contemporary content and orients learning towards critical thinking, analysis and solving real problems. In this way, students are not only passive beneficiaries of knowledge, but part of an academic ecosystem where research, learning and practice are naturally intertwined. This process increases not only the professional preparation of graduates, but also the impact of the university on society, contributing to economic, social and cultural development, to the construction of public policies based on evidence and to the formation of active, responsible citizens capable of positively influencing the community where they live and operate.

The development of scientific research in the period 2023–2025 does not represent an end point, but a solid foundation on which to build the future. “Haxhi Zeka” University is proving that with a clear vision, collective commitment and high academic standards, it is possible to build a sustainable and competitive scientific profile, in service of the academic community and society as a whole.
