Małgorzata Nermend, PhD Eng. is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Preschool and Early School Education, Institute of Pedagogy, University of Szczecin. Her research profile is situated within contemporary developments in pedagogy, social sciences, and educational neuroscience, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based education and the integration of empirical research with educational practice.
Her work employs multimodal psychophysiological and neurocognitive methods, including electroencephalography (EEG), galvanic skin response (GSR), and eye-tracking, to investigate cognitive, emotional, and social processes in educational environments. Her research interests focus on children and adolescents, education, neurodiversity, volunteering, and the functioning of individuals with special educational needs.
She currently conducts research on public awareness of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), the use of EEG in supporting ADHD diagnosis in educational contexts, as well as the assessment of emotions, stress, and engagement among children, adolescents, and university students. Her work is dedicated to the development of innovative diagnostic and research tools and the translation of neuroscientific findings into educational practice.
She is the author and co-author of scientific publications in the fields of pedagogy, volunteering, and social sciences. She actively participates in national and international research projects and academic conferences, promoting interdisciplinary approaches to educational research and the advancement of evidence-based educational practice.
Alongside her academic activity, she serves as the Principal of Primary School No. 11 named after UNICEF in Szczecin, where she combines empirical research with educational leadership. She is committed to developing an inclusive, innovative, and future-oriented school model, supporting the implementation of modern teaching methods, the development of future skills, and collaboration between schools, universities, and research institutions. Under her leadership, the school implements numerous educational and social initiatives that foster students’ holistic development and a culture of cooperation and social responsibility.
Her academic and professional achievements have been recognized with numerous distinctions. She has twice received the Rector’s Award of the University of Szczecin for Outstanding Scientific Achievements, as well as the Mayor of Szczecin Award for her contribution to education. She has also been honored with the Minister of Education Award for outstanding achievements in teaching and school leadership, including her exceptional commitment to supporting children and young people from Ukraine.
Her work is guided by the belief that contemporary education should be grounded in rigorous scientific evidence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and responsibility for the development and well-being of every learner.
