UNIWIN 2026: Tourism as a Key Potential for Kosovo’s Economic Development

As part of the fourth day of the International Winter University UNIWIN 2026 at Haxhi Zeka University, a guest lecture was organized by the Tourism Office of the Municipality of Peja, under the theme “Tourism – Potential for Economic Development of Kosovo”highlighting tourism as one of the sectors with the greatest potential for sustainable economic growth.

The lecture was delivered by.Mr. Virtyt Morina,, Ms. Blerta Harxhi Begolli and Mr. Jakob Hook, who presented to local and international students and professors the natural and cultural assets of the Municipality of Peja, as well as the institutional vision for its development and promotion as an attractive tourist destination.

During the presentation, participants were introduced to the potential of mountain, cultural, and adventure tourism, opportunities for international cooperation, and the direct impact that tourism development has on strengthening the local economy and creating new employment opportunities.

The lecture sparked strong interest and active discussions, further strengthening the link between academia and local institutions, while promoting Kosovo—and Peja in particular—as a destination with exceptional tourism and development potential.

UNIWIN 2026 continues to serve as an important platform for connecting academic knowledge with institutional practices and Kosovo’s development potentials, promoting tourism as a realistic opportunity for economic growth and international cooperation.
