At University “Haxhi Zeka” International summer University, UNISUM 2026, Prof. Danijel Cerović will co-teach the course “Classical Guitar Performance and Interpretation” together with Prof. Xhevdet Sahatxhija
Danijel Cerović is a Montenegrin guitarist, recording artist, professor, and artistic director whose career encompasses solo and chamber performances, pedagogy, and cultural management. He appears regularly at international festivals and concert halls across Europe, North and South America, and Asia, both as a soloist and as a member of the acclaimed Montenegrin Guitar Duo, with which he recorded J. S. Bach’s English Suites for Naxos Records, receiving international critical praise. His repertoire ranges from his own transcriptions of Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces, through the classical guitar canon of the 19th and 20th centuries, to contemporary music, with a special dedication to expanding the instrument’s possibilities. He also released a solo album dedicated to the music of Silvius Leopold Weiss, which was highly praised for its stylistic authenticity and refined interpretation.
Cerović is Professor of Guitar at the Music Academy of the University of Montenegro and Guest Professor at the Music Academy in Sarajevo, where his students have been awarded at major international competitions and performed with symphony orchestras. He is also regularly invited to give masterclasses and perform at international music academies and summer schools, including the International Cultural Centre in Grožnjan (Croatia). In addition to his pedagogical and artistic work, he is the artistic director of the Nikšić Guitar Festival and the International Guitar Competition in Tivat, actively contributing to the development of the cultural scene in Montenegro and the wider region. He is also a D’Addario Artist, collaborating with one of the world’s leading manufacturers of musical instrument strings and accessories.
