International Summer University, UNISUM 2026 organised by University Haxhi Zeka, continues to demonstrate that international academic events are enriched not only through knowledge exchange but also through meaningful cultural and outdoor experiences. Alongside its scientific program, participants were invited to explore the breathtaking landscapes and adventure tourism opportunities that make the Dukagjini region one of Kosovo’s most remarkable destinations.
During the weekend, international and local participants visited some of Peja’s most renowned outdoor attractions, including the exciting Via Ferrata and Zip Line. These activities offered a unique opportunity to experience the dramatic scenery of the Rugova Gorge while encouraging teamwork, confidence, and a spirit of adventure.
On Sunday, participants joined a guided hiking excursion through the magnificent Accursed Mountains (Bjeshkët e Nemuna), one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in the Western Balkans. Surrounded by pristine nature, panoramic views, and fresh mountain air, they experienced the extraordinary biodiversity and natural heritage that characterize this region.
Beyond recreation, these activities promoted sustainable tourism and introduced participants to the environmental, cultural, and economic significance of Peja. The excursions allowed guests to gain a deeper appreciation of Kosovo’s natural treasures while creating unforgettable memories shared with colleagues from different countries.
The outdoor program, including the Via Ferrata, Zip Line, and mountain hiking activities, was supported by the NGO “Marimangat” Peja, whose commitment to promoting outdoor tourism and environmental appreciation contributed significantly to the success of these experiences.
Through these activities, UNISUM 2026 proudly showcased the unique landscapes, hospitality, and tourism potential of western Kosovo, reaffirming that international education extends far beyond the classroom.
