"Haxhi Zeka" University in Peja and "Josip Juraj Strossmayer" University of Osijek (UNIOS) have signed bilateral agreement for academic cooperation, research and international development, thus opening a new important page in UHZ's journey towards internationalization and affirmation of the third university mission.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Armand Krasniqi, Rector of “Haxhi Zeka” University, and Prof. Dr. Drago Šubarić, Rector of the University of Osijek, and is a direct result of official visit of the UHZ delegation to the Republic of Croatia during October 2025, where fruitful meetings were held within the framework of the academic partnership with the University of Osijek and the "Tera Tehnopolis" Innovation Center.
This agreement paves the way for comprehensive academic cooperation, including: student and academic staff exchanges through the Erasmus+ KA171 program, the development of joint research projects, the organization of interuniversity forums and international conferences, as well as developing innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives within the framework of NOVA University Center of UHZ.
In the letter accompanying the agreement, the representative of the UNIOS International Relations Office, znj. Martina Suto, expressed gratitude for the cooperation and confirmed that the agreement will enable concrete mobility of two students and a professor from UHZ at the University of Osijek during summer semester of the academic year 2025/2026Students will have the opportunity to pursue their studies in Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek, while academic staff will benefit from the programs international training and teaching.
Financial support for these mobilities is provided directly by the University of Osijek, within the framework of the project Erasmus+ 2024-1-HR01-KA171-HED-000212154, guaranteeing participation without financial burdens for our partner university.
This partnership is a clear testament to the increasingly prominent role of “Haxhi Zeka” University in the European academic space. Through such collaborations, UHZ continues to broaden its international horizons and strengthen its profile as a dynamic, contemporary and innovative university, which serves not only education and research, but also the economic and cultural development of the region and the country.
In this context, the Rector of "Haxhi Zeka" University, Prof. Dr. Armand Krasniqi, stated that:

It represents not only an opportunity for our students and academic staff, but also a responsibility to be an active part of the European university community that promotes knowledge, innovation and sustainable cooperation.”
On the other hand, the Rector of the University of Osijek, Prof. Dr. Drago Šubarić, in signing the agreement, emphasized that the cooperation with the “Haxhi Zeka” University reflects the common interest in building a strong academic bridge between Croatia and Kosovo, seeing this partnership as an opportunity for strengthening joint scientific and cultural capacities in our region.
The agreement is expected to be concreted with immediate activities starting in the coming months, transforming this cooperation into a sustainable model of cross-border university partnership.
