The management of Haxhi Zeka University in Peja held a working meeting today with the Mayor of Peja, Mr. Gazmend Muhaxheri, as part of efforts to intensify institutional cooperation between the university and local authorities on issues of shared developmental interest.

The university delegation included Prof. Dr. Armand Krasniqi, Rector of the university, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alma Shehu Lokaj, Vice-Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vjosa Hajdari, Vice-Rector, and Mr. Luan Lulaj, Director of the Legal Office. They were received by the Mayor of Peja, Mr. Gazmend Muhaxheri, and Deputy Mayor, Fatmir Asllani.

During the meeting, Rector Krasniqi informed Mayor Muhaxheri about the ongoing development processes at Haxhi Zeka University, including the drafting of the Strategic Plan 2026–2030 and efforts to reconfigure the university’s institutional structure in line with new challenges and higher education needs. The discussion also highlighted the increasingly important role of the university in scientific research, innovation, and the realization of its third mission, serving public interest and community development.

A special part of the discussion focused on redefining the university’s mission toward a University 4.0 model, in which collaboration with public institutions, municipalities, and the economic sector is a key element for regional development and the creation of sustainable societal value.

Mayor Muhaxheri reiterated his personal commitment and that of the Peja municipal administration to support the university’s developmental processes, as well as joint activities and initiatives that contribute to the academic, economic, and social development of the city and the Dukagjin region.

Both parties agreed to further strengthen communication and institutional coordination in the future, particularly in support of developmental initiatives such as FERD – Regional Economic Development Forum and UNI-NOVA – University Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which aim to reinforce the connection between the university, public institutions, business, and the community.

For the first time during the meeting, the idea was also discussed to develop a project for the construction of a student dormitory and cafeteria on the Peja campus, an initiative aimed at improving student living conditions and creating more complete university infrastructure in support of students and the further development of Haxhi Zeka University.

This meeting represents a significant step toward strengthening the strategic partnership between Haxhi Zeka University and the Municipality of Peja, contributing to the advancement of higher education, scientific research, and the sustainable progress of the local community.
