UHZ academic staff participate in the training "Development of Green Competencies and Skills for Innovation and Sustainability"“

more 07.10.2025, in Doctoral Hall THE Faculty of Business at the "Haxhi Zeka" University (UHZ), professional training was held “Developing Green Competencies and Skills for Innovation and Sustainability”, organized within the framework of the project EcoPulse. The training gathered a significant number of academic staff members from UHZ units, with the aim of equipping them with knowledge and practical tools for designing, implementing and measuring sustainability initiatives in the teaching, research and university services process.

At the opening, Project Coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fisnik Morina, emphasized the role of green skills as interdisciplinary competencies that influence curriculum planning, course design and resource management at the university. In his welcoming speech, Prof. Dr. Theranda Beqiri, Director of Center of Excellence at UHZ, highlighted the institutional commitment to integrate sustainability as a priority in teaching practices and research activities. The training session, led by Prof. Besfort Ahmeti, focused on moving “from idea to impact,” combining key concepts of green innovation with hands-on exercises and case examples from the university environment.

During group work, staff participants collaborated in developing ideas and institutional initiatives for sustainable solutions in priority areas such as: campus mobility, buildings and infrastructure, communication/awareness and dissemination, organizational culture change, public procurement and supply chain, as well as financing models for green projects. The staff group focused on defining measurable objectives, performance indicators, and first steps for implementation, with the aim of scheduling and integrating initiatives into the work plans of academic units.

Benefits for academic staff includes clarifying the framework of green competencies that can be integrated into Syllabus and in learning outcomes; applicable means for designing practical activities in the subject as well as orientations for interdepartmental cooperation and community partnerships. In conclusion, priority points were identified and concrete initiatives were formulated in function of promoting green innovation at UHZ, which will serve as the basis for action packages and pilot models within the project EcoPulse.
