UNISUM 2026 Professor Spotlight: Brian Gillikin

At University “Haxhi Zeka” International summer University, UNISUM 2026, Brian Gillikinwill co-teach the course“Applied AI for Business Informatics” together with Prof. Ylber Januzaj

Brian Gillikin is a Lead Data Scientist at IBM and an Adjunct Professor of Applied Data Science at the University of Maryland’s College of Information Studies. As a Fulbright Specialist, he has also served as a visiting professor at the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore in India and Universidad Católica in Bogotá, Colombia. He holds master’s degrees in Information Technology and Public Policy & Management from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as a master’s degree in Technology Governance from Tallinn University of Technology. He is a PhD Fellow at Maastricht University, where his research focuses on AI-supported climate resilience and socio-technical systems. His previous work includes data science, analytics, and civic technology projects for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the OECD, CSIS, and organizations supported by the U.S. Department of State, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, UNESCO, and the European Union.
