During his visit to Kosovo, internationally respected scholar Professor Taro Komatsu from Sofia University in Tokyo, Japan, together with Dr. Neshad Albani from Rotary Club – Peja, spent a special day at Haxhi Zeka University in Peja.
Professor Komatsu was warmly welcomed by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Armand Krasniqi, along with members of the university staff. The visit was an opportunity to share the university’s vision, achievements, and future goals in higher education and research. Conversations touched on the importance of human rights, their role in building democratic societies, and the ways universities can contribute to lasting peace and international cooperation.
Rector Krasniqi highlighted the university’s dedication to preparing students not only for professional success, but also for their role as responsible citizens who embrace freedom, tolerance, and coexistence. He described Haxhi Zeka University as a place where knowledge and community come together, helping shape a sustainable future for Kosovo. This, he noted, makes the university more than just an educational institution—it is also a place where future generations are inspired to build a society rooted in peace, solidarity, and mutual understanding.
The visit also reflected Professor Komatsu’s deep and long-standing ties with Kosovo and the city of Peja, dating back to the post-war years when he supported peace-building and human rights initiatives. His enduring connection to the country was warmly acknowledged as part of Kosovo’s own journey of growth and development.
The day ended with a shared sense of optimism, recognizing the visit as an opportunity to strengthen academic collaboration between Kosovo and Japan, and to open new horizons for Haxhi Zeka University’s international partnerships—partnerships that bring progress, exchange, and mutual learning.
