{"id":60541,"date":"2026-03-24T14:19:25","date_gmt":"2026-03-24T12:19:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unhz.eu\/?p=60541"},"modified":"2026-03-24T14:29:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T12:29:06","slug":"epopeja-e-dukagjinit-kujtesa-nderimi-uhz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unhz.eu\/en\/blog\/epopeja-e-dukagjinit-kujtesa-nderimi-uhz\/","title":{"rendered":"The Epic of Dukagjini \u2013 memory, honor and institutional commitment to freedom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, on the 28th anniversary of one of the most glorious events of our recent history \u2013 the battle of the Kosovo Liberation Army in Gllogjan, known as the \u201cEpic of Dukagjin\u201d, the \u201cHaxhi Zeka\u201d University in Peja bowed with deep respect to the sublime sacrifice of the sons and daughters of this country. This event, which took place on March 24, 1998, represents not only a historical moment of resistance, but a great act of national awareness for freedom, dignity and the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The delegation of \u201cHaxhi Zeka\u201d University, composed of Prof. Dr. Armand Krasniqi, Prof. Dr. Edmond Beqiri, Dr. sc. Assoc. Prof. Alma Shehu-Lokaj and Dr. sc. Assoc. Prof. Vjosa Hajdari, participated in this commemorative ceremony, expressing in an institutional and humane manner the highest respect for all those who gave everything for the freedom of Kosovo \u2013 for the fallen who became the foundation of the state and for the living who carry on their shoulders the memory and the responsibility of continuity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On this significant day, Gllogjan was not only a place of remembrance, but a space of collective reflection, where history and the present came together in a shared sense of gratitude. The epic of Dukagjini remains a symbol of invincibility and endurance, proof that freedom is not a gift, but the result of sacrifice and unconditional dedication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A special and deeply moving moment of this ceremony was the performance of the national anthem by the Choir of the Faculty of Arts of \u201cHaxhi Zeka\u201d University, conducted by Prof. Hysen NImani. This performance was not only an artistic act, but an expression of the university spirit that is linked to the highest national values, proving that our university is not only an institution of knowledge, but also a bearer of historical memory and cultural identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For \u201cHaxhi Zeka\u201d University, participation in such events is not simply a formal obligation, but an ongoing mission to educate the younger generations with a sense of respect for history, sacrifice and the values \u200b\u200bon which our country was built. In this spirit, the university remains committed to cultivating civic consciousness and keeping collective memory alive through teaching, scientific research and social engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The epic of Dukagjini is not just a memory of the past \u2013 it is a call for responsibility in the present and a guide for the future. By honoring the past, we build the future. And precisely in this combination of memory and vision, lies the role of the university as an institution that connects history with development, sacrifice with knowledge, and ideal with
